Managing the flow of movement of an estimated 20 million annual tourists is no easy task, lest we forget that we’re living in a city with one of the fasting growing populations on Planet Earth (authorities estimate Dubaians will number 5 million by 2030, double the current figure).
On top of that, the world’s eyes will be on The City of Gold when it hosts Expo 2020 in four years, making the need for a transport control hub that works like a finely-tuned grandfather clock even greater.
That may not mean that the building has to be grand on the outside – but this is Dubai! – a city with an insatiable appetite for architectural beauty and innovation.
