African-American rapper, wale has been reportedly sued by Paul of Upfront and Personal for not attending the One Africa Music Festival after he was paid to perform.
This is what a few artises would do and get away with in Nigeria, but as a businessman, trust reliability should not be tampered with.
The One Africa Music Festival stared in July and ran through till the end of October. It had a long performace list of African artists and most big musicians in Nigeria made the list. Rising from Davido, Banky W, Wizkid, Tekno, Yemi Alade, and so on, One Africa Music Festival 2016 was one of a resourecful concert.
According to TMZ report, wale who is of Nigerian decent, did not show up for his performance at the inaugural On Africa Music Fest show held in NY on julu 22, 2016 after being paid upfront.
The organizers also said that the performance booking was legal and bounded by a contract, which was signed by Wale’s company and theirs. The payment was done via two wire transfers for $12.500 each.
The lawsuit claims that after Wale ignored the show, he refused to respond to them because they were asking for a refund. The promoters are asking for a refund and an interest on the initial payment for the duration the money has been in Wale’s possession.
Wale rose to prominence in 2006 with his song “Dig Dug” and the rapper dropped a mix tape in June titled “Summer On Sunset.” He is aware of his root and has visited Nigeria before.
