The organizers also said that the performance booking was legal and bounded by a contract, which was signed by Wale’s company and theirs. The payment was done via two wire transfers for $12.500 each.

The lawsuit claims that after Wale ignored the show, he refused to respond to them because they were asking for a refund. The promoters are asking for a refund and an interest on the initial payment for the duration the money has been in Wale’s possession.

Wale rose to prominence in 2006 with his song “Dig Dug” and the rapper dropped a mix tape in June titled “Summer On Sunset.” He is aware of his root and has visited Nigeria before.
